September 21, 2011 – Dallas, Texas – Enkitec today announced it’s 60th Exadata
implementation. The company’s first client engagement was launched in 2009. Since
then Enkitec has touched over 30 machines, spanning every industry from national big‐
box retailers to worldwide oil & gas corporations. Each installation has included multiple
applications – between 20 and 300 unique platforms – making each on‐boarding
process completely custom. Subsequent engagements have included tuning, patching,
back up and recovery protocols, and data guard set up.
“Enkitec has completed more Exadata implementations than any other company in the
world,” stated Enkitec Co‐founder, Kerry Osborne, “and with customer satisfaction
holding steady at 100% in every case.”
The Oracle Exadata Database Machine is the only database machine that provides
accelerated performance for both data warehousing and online transaction processing
(OLTP) applications, making it an ideal platform for migrating and consolidating data
onto grids or private clouds. Exadata is comprised of a network of servers, storage,
networking, and software that is scalable, secure, and redundant on a massive scale.
One of Enkitec’s most complicated yet integral services is the Exadata Patching Service.
Enkitec has administered the patch such that customers are able to keep the platform
running seamlessly with no interruption. Osborne commented, “Our customers have
not experienced a single unplanned outage as a result of Enkitec’s Exadata Patching
Service.”
Enkitec has built and sustained its Exadata client base through successful
implementations and migrations, and has continued service for companies long after
completion of the on‐boarding process. “Because we bought our own Exadata machines
we can continue to test and troubleshoot before, during and after an implementation.
We wrote the book on Exadata based on our intimate knowledge and hands‐on
experience with the machine by staying engaged in the product’s evolution over two
years. Literally. It’s called “Expert Oracle Exadata” published by Apress,” continued
Osborne.
Osborne predicts that five years down the road Exadata will be the predominant storage
platform for large Oracle databases, empowering large corporations to consolidate and
manage more data.
