Enkitec Introduces “Pro Oracle® SQL Tuning: SQL Internals” Training Course

Enkitec introduces a training course entitled “Pro Oracle® SQL Tuning: SQL Internals” to its education division. The inaugural course will be taught at Enkitec’s training center January 23-24, 2013, and will also be available to attend online throughout the year.

This two-day course focuses on SQL execution internals, which are the foundation of all SQL tuning. Students will gain an understanding of how SQL executes from the "inside out" through an in-depth overview, beginning with Oracle architectural components, such as the SGA and PGA, and continuing through the specific mechanics of how SQL executes. Students will build on these SQL internals fundamentals by taking a deep dive into SQL Execution Plans and the access and join methods that Oracle uses.

“Pro Oracle® SQL Tuning: SQL Internals” is intended to provide fast yet in-depth coverage that will allow Database Administrators (DBAs) and Developers to improve their ability to quickly and accurately find and diagnose SQL performance problems. Pro Oracle SQL, a comprehensive technical book published by Apress and co-authored by Karen Morton and Kerry Osborne (et al), will be used as a reference tool throughout the training. But if you want to go further than the basics, you need to get under the hood and learn how your SQL does what it does. Enkitec Welcomes Timothy St. Hilaire as Product Developer

Tim St. Hilaire joins Enkitec as Product Developer in the company’s development division. Key areas of focus at Enkitec will include product development around the Oracle Database and Oracle Application Express web technology. Tim brings over a dozen years working with Oracle as a developer, integrator, and architect. He is the co-author of the Apress technical book, Beginning Oracle Application Express, and is an active member of the Oracle Developer Tools User Group (ODTUG), where he has presented on Oracle APEX and the Oracle Database at numerous conferences.

His expertise is most notable in the areas of database design, performance and reliability. With the onset of engineered systems, Hank has focused on Oracle Exadata implementations, Oracle Exalogic and Oracle GoldenGate technologies.
